After trying to conceive for 6 years, Patrick and Julie Seloterio reached a stage in their life where they wanted to have a child and, thus, considered adoption.

Mr. and Mrs. Patrick and Julifort Seloterio together with their child Trish.

Naa mi silingan nga nurse sa Asilo de la Milagrosa, siyay nisuggest nga muadopt mig bata” (We have a neighbor who works as a nurse in Asilo de la Milagrosa who suggested that we might as well opt for adoption).

Julie and Patrick remembered going to Asilo de la Milagrosa to inquire about adoption as suggested by their neighbor. However, the nun directed them to go to DSWD Field Office 7 instead.

It was around May or June 2017 when they filed for adoption. However, adopting a child is easier said than done because the process is tedious and long.

Ang process dugay kaayo siya (the process is very long), but from the very start that we decided to have a child, there’s no turning back,” Patrick said.

Finally, after 5 months of waiting, when the DSWD called because the child was ready, they had to go out of town to attend a wedding. But, after a week, they went directly to DSWD and saw a beautiful 5-month-old baby.

“We feel so blessed and lucky to have Trish in our lives.” She never gives us any problems. “She is very kind, friendly, well-mannered and hopefully she will not change,” said Patrick.

“Thank you Trish for coming into our lives. If ever the time comes that you want to meet your biological parents, we will support you all the way,” Julie beams.

The adoption process takes time. It can be overwhelming, but for Julie and Patrick, their now 5-year-old Trish is worth the process, worth the paperwork, and definitely worth the wait. ###
