National Program Manager Janet P. Armas led the turnover ceremony of two (2) Access Roads to local officials of Brgy. Anapog and Canagahan, San Remigio, Cebu on July 14, 2021.

The ceremony started with the blessing and ribbon-cutting held in the respective project sites attended by both National and Regional Program Management Officials.

Kalahi-CIDSS National Program Manager Janet P. Armas led the symbolic turnover of shovel to BSPMC Member of Brgy. Anapog road project.

Canagahan and Anapog, with 972 households, were among the recipients of Kalahi-CIDSS Kapangyarihan at Kaunlaran sa Barangay (KKB) funded projects in the municipality of San Remigio.

The sectional concreting of 0.650 km access road in Purok Bayabas, Brgy. Canagahan and 0.500 km in Purok Little Adelfa, Brgy. Anapog were cost-shared using the grant allocation and local counterpart contribution from the two barangays.

The completed roads will not only grant access and easy travel to residents but to the overall development of San Remigio, creating more business opportunities, job openings, and economic activities.

Meanwhile, Director Janet P. Armas highlighted in her message the sharing of experiences from community volunteers who are the driving force of these completed projects. “We should all be proud of what the volunteers have contributed to the success of the Kalahi-CIDSS. Ultimately, it is them who made these projects a sight and a story to be told to everyone,” she said.

Hon. Christopher V. Bacud of Brgy. Anapog shared his life-changing experience with Kalahi-CIDSS and told everyone how he started his career in local government from a community volunteer to becoming a Punong Barangay. “Sa akong paglantaw sa akong kaagi, nakita nako ang dakong kausaban sa akong kinabuhi. Wala nako damha nga ang usa ka boluntir sa Kalahi mamahimong kapitan niining among barangay (As I look back, I see a change in my life. I did not expect that a Kalahi volunteer like me would become a leader in our barangay),” Bacud narrated.

Moreover, volunteer Rene C. Sinadjan emotionally shared how he and his father fought for better social services despite their life’s difficulties. “Ang akong nasaksihan karong adlaw usa ka pagpapakita nga adunay Ginoo nga naglantaw kanato sa itaas. Ang among gipangandoy sa una, natuman na ug karon masinati daghang mga katawhan (What I have witnessed today manifested that there is God who watches over us from above. What we dreamed of at first has been fulfilled and is now being experienced by many people).”

To date, Kalahi-CIDSS completed 90 sub-projects in the municipality of San Remigio, Cebu, amounting to Php 95,142,107.70 distributed in the 27 recipient barangays. ###
