A total of Php 1,941,474.00 worth of DSWD Kalahi-CIDSS sub-projects in Barangay Upper Cabangcalan, Lazi, Siquijor have benefited its people.  These are the Solar-Powered Water System and the 67 Individual Comfort Rooms.

Mayor James Monte and Vice-Mayor Earl Aljas together with the DOH representatives, Municipal Area Coordinating Team and the Community Volunteers pose in front of one of the comfort rooms after the inauguration.

The newly turned-over 67 Individual Comfort Rooms cost Php 816,000.00 and the Solar-Powered Water System cost Php 1,125,474.00 that benefitted 107 households not to mention the neighboring barangays who also fetch water in Upper Cabangcalan.

The Municipal Mayor of Lazi, James Monte, hoped that these sub-projects of DSWD Kalahi-CIDSS may lead to a Zero Open Defecation (ZOD) in the barangay, for them to retain its title as Siquijor’s Cleanest and Greenest Municipality. Lazi town bagged the said award on September 27, 2017.

Malipayon kayo kami tungod sa gihatag nga pundo sa DSWD Kalahi-CIDSS, aduna nay tubig ug pansayan. Nanghinaut kami nga sa sunod validation mahimo na kaming ZOD (I am very happy of the funds from DSWD Kalahi-CDSS, we already have water and comfort rooms for those who have none.  I hope that on the next validation, the barangay will be declared ZOD),” expressed Gemma Lumingkit, Municipal Health Midwife. ###
