Special Assistant to the President (SAP) Christopher Lawrence “Bong” Go together with the Department of Social Welfare and Development (DSWD)-7 Regional Director Ma. Evelyn B. Macapobre gave out assistance and personally visited the victims of the recent fire that hit barangays Ermita and Tejero, Cebu City early this week.

The DSWD-7 through its Disaster Response Management Division (DRMD) has distributed relief supplies such as family clothing packs, kitchen kits, sleeping kits and food packs to the affected families of the recent fire that hit the two barangays.  Relief supplies costing Php 3,470,627.40 were distributed to the 676 families in barangay Ermita and 19 families in barangay Tejero who are affected by the fire that recently hit in their area last May 7 and May 9.

The Department of Health (DOH) 7 Regional Director Jaime Bernadas and his team also distributed hygiene kits, first aid kits, drinking water and vitamins to the fire affected families. While the Philippine Charity Sweepstakes Office (PCSO) gave out 1 million pesos to barangay Ermita to help the affected families get back on their feet after the fire that completely damaged their houses.

The DSWD-7 has already extended burial assistance to the family of the John Mark (3 years old) and Jovelyn Digman (12 years old) who perished during the fire incident while SAP Christopher Lawrence “Bong” Go gave a cash assistance and extended his deepest condolences to the bereaved family of the children. He also asked Presidential Assistant for the Visayas Michael Lloyd Dino who was with him during his visit to provide any assistance that the family might need.

In Go’s speech during the short program held in barangay Ermita, he has relayed to the fire affected residents President Rodrigo Duterte’s message of sympathy and assured them that the Malacañang office is always open for them and for all Filipinos. Mr. Go also expressed to the victims that the Malacañang office is willing to extend further help that the residents might need through the Presidential Assistant for the Visayas Michael Dino. ###
