The Department of Social Welfare and Development (DSWD) Field Office 7-Central Visayas has been conducting Municipal Community Volunteers Congress in the municipalities implementing Kapit-Bisig Laban sa Kahirapan-Comprehensive and Integrated Delivery of Social Services (KALAHI-CIDSS) in Central Visayas, on top of the recent regional Community Volunteers Congress held in Cebu in October this year.

The community volunteers engage in a game called lemoncito relay during the Municipal Community Volunteers Congress in the Municipality of San Fernando, Cebu.

The most recent congress conducted within the months of November and December aims to further uplift the spirit of camaraderie among community volunteers.

KALAHI-CIDSS conducted the volunteer congress in 28 municipalities with 4,179 participating community volunteers in Central Visayas. Of the number, 14 happened in Bohol, 11 in Cebu, while two (2) and one in Negros Oriental and Siquijor, respectively.

In Bohol, the activity happened in the municipalities of Balilihan, Bilar, Calape, Candijay, Clarin, Garcia Hernandez, Inabanga, Jagna, and Pres. Carlos P. Garcia (Pitogo), Sagbayan (Borja), Trinidad, Tubigon, Ubay, and Valencia.

The same gathering of community volunteers took place in Balamban, Borbon, Catmon, Daanbantayan, Pinamungahan, San Fernando, Sibonga, Sogod, Tabogon, Alcantara, and Malabuyoc towns in Cebu.

Meanwhile, it was conducted in the Municipalities of Valencia and Ayungon in Negros Oriental and Lazi in Siquijor.

The Congress, spearheaded by the KALAHI-CIDSS Area Coordinating Teams (ACTs) assigned in the municipalities, was closely coordinated with and supported by the respective local government units (LGUs).

KALAHI-CIDSS workers initiated various activities such as workshops and games with prizes, among others, in the communities to build stronger relationships among the community volunteers. ###
