Led by the three Field Office directors of Regional 6, 7, and 8 comprising the Visayas Cluster, Incoming DSWD Secretary Erwin T. Tulfo and nis transition team were welcomed to Cebu City in preparation for the transfer of stewardship of the Department of Social Welfare and Development (DSWD) to a new administration.

Regional Directors Ma. Evelyn B. Macapobre of Field Office VI and Grace Q. Subong of Field Office VIII, as well as Assistant Regional Director for Operations Shalaine Marie S. Lucero hosted the Visayas Cluster Meeting to ensure a smooth and well-coordinate transfer of management.

During his 2–day visit, Mr. Tulfo’s transition team gets a briefing on the various programs and services implemented in the Visayas Cluster, including accomplishments of the outgoing administration, budget allocation, challenges, and key result areas that his leadership will be taking on.

The Regional Warehouse and residential care facilities in Region VII, namely Home For Girls, Reception and Study Center for Children, Area Vocational Rehabilitation Center II, and the Regional Haven for Women, were also visited.

Through the visit to these centers, the incoming management gets an overview of the role of the agency in protecting social welfare that goes beyond the distribution of relief and cash assistance.

He also visited the Visayas Disaster Resource Center (VDRC) in Mandaue City, which houses the mechanized production system for Family Food Packs (FFPs) given as relief goods during disasters.

VDRC’s Chief Administration Officer, Engr. Irish Flor Yaranon, gave his team orientation on the inception, roles, and challenges of the facility in responding to various disasters not only in the Visayas but in the entire country.

“I recognized all the Field Offices’ employees for their dedication to public service, particularly serving this humongous bureaucracy in the implementation of the government’s programs and services in winning the war against hunger and poverty,” said the incoming Secretary.

Through his visit and coordination meeting with the respective directors of the Visayas Cluster, Incoming DSWD Secretary assures that his management is prepared to hit the ground running for the first 100 days in the office. ###
