The Central Visayas Adoptive Parents Association (CVAPA) Inc., has successfully conducted its first ever Regional Adoption Summit in Central Visayas on April 14, 2018, Saturday at the University of the Visayas Main Campus.

Officer-in-charge of the Community Protective Services Bureau of the DSWD Rosalie D. Dagulo answers questions from adoptive parents during the open forum of the 1st Regional Adoption Summit.

The summit which aims to promote responsible parenting of adopted children was participated by 48 adoptive parents and prospective adoptive parents from four provinces of Region VII.

Officer-in-charge of the Community Protective Services Bureau of the Department of Social Welfare and Development (DSWD) Rosalie D. Dagulo who talked about Parenting of Adopted Children and Adoptive Parents’ Perspective also shared some stories on her journey as an adoptive parent.

“I am happy that you are able to come up with this (Adoption Summit). This is a kind of support system to go back when you have questions along your journey as adoptive parents,” OIC Director Dagulo said.

Also discussed by Director Dagulo are the post adoption services that DSWD offers to aid adoptive parents in providing a nurturing environment to their adopted children as they grow.

CVAPAI President Kaking Sy said the association plans to conduct a much bigger Visayas Adoption Summit to strengthen the organization, further advocate good parenting of adopted children and to encourage other individuals who cannot bear a child to adopt children and undergo the legal process of adoption.
