The Department of Social Welfare and Development (DSWD) Central Visayas has officially closed on February 18, 2018 the Adoption Consciousness Celebration with a Family Day at the J Centre Mall.

The activity which was participated by children from 13 Child-Caring Agencies accredited in the region, DSWD-7 Centers and Institutions, and members of Central Visayas Adoptive Parents Association (CVAPA) families featured games, stage presentations by children from different child-caring agencies and CVAPA families, a magic show, and a huge inflatable playground at the venue.

Ms. Clavel Sayson, head of DSWD-7’s Adoption Resource and Referral Section (ARRS) has expressed her gratitude to everyone who participated in the activity and contributed to its success. She also thanked Mr. and Mrs. Gullas who made the event more enjoyable and memorable for the kids.

Ms. Saycon also appreciated Gullas couple for being good examples to other partners to also adopt abandoned children and to undergo the appropriate process of legal adoption.

Mr. Jose “Dodong” R. Gullas, who is also the executive vice president of the University of the Visayas, has announced as well in his speech during the activity that he will pick 13 children from the centers to be scholars in the coming school year.

To conclude the event, the Gullas couple shared their blessings and gave checks worth of ₱10,000 to each of the 11 child-caring agencies while other three entities were given machines and equipment. The DSWD-7’s Home for Girls received a new projector and projection screen, additional sewing machine for the Regional Haven and a refrigerator for the DSWD-7 HerSpace.

The Family Day was sponsored by Mr. Jose “Dodong” R. Gullas and Mrs. Nena Gullas who are one of the members of CVAPA. ###
