The Department of Social Welfare and Development in Central Visayas has released Family Food Packs (FFPs) to five local government units (LGUs) as of December 19 heavily affected by Typhoon Odette.

The breakdown of distribution are the following: 2,000 for Loboc, Bohol; 2,000 for Carlos P. Garcia, Bohol; 1,300 for Manjuyod, Negros Oriental; 100 for Tayasan, Negros Oriental; and, 50 in Ayungon, Negros Oriental.

Meanwhile, a total of 9,000 FFPs will be released to Lapu-Lapu City, Sibonga, Argao, Santa Fe, Carcar, and Barili in Cebu.

Sibonga will also receive 2,000 Hygiene Kits.

While waiting for requests from other LGUs, the Department has readied a total of 18,423 FFPs worth P8.6 million spread in the Provinces of Bohol, Cebu, and Negros Oriental. A total amount of Php 725,750.00 is also in standby for disaster relief.

All three regional warehouses located in Cebu City, Tagbilaran City and Dumaguete City are continuously repacking the goods to be able to respond on the family food packs requests.

DSWD-7 Regional Director Rebecca Geamala underscored that the Department is ready to augment to the needs of the disaster affected LGUs.

“As the lead in the disaster response it is our primodial responsibility to help the LGUs recover from the devastation,” added Geamala.

As of now DSWD-7 has P5.7 million standby fund, ready-to-eat items worth P159,000, nonp-food-items worth P16.5 million. Overall DSWD-7 has a total of P31 million worth of standby fund and stockpile. However, continued repacking family food packs and has requested from DSWD Central Office a total of 400,000 FFPs.

While DSWD vows to support LGUs in disaster response, the LGUs is the first to respond to the needs of their constituents in times of crisis.

The DSWD’s FFPs contains 6 kilos of rice, 10 canned goods, 5 sachets of coffee, and 5 sachets of energy drinks. This is good for three days and five family members. ###
