Volunteers and partner LGUs of the Kapit-Bisig Laban sa Kahirapan Comprehensive and Integrated Delivery of Social Services (KALAHI-CIDSS) were honored for exemplary volunteer work and partnership in the implementation of Community-Driven Development during the 71st Anniversary of the Department of Social Welfare and Development (DSWD) Field Office VII on March 28, 2022.
During the celebration, the agency recognized its various partners and stakeholders for their invaluable contributions to social protection and the delivery of programs and services.
Over the years, KALAHI-CIDSS, a poverty-alleviation and community empowerment program of DSWD, has been in partnership with key partners in promoting accountability, transparency, and empowerment of communities to address various dimensions of poverty.
The Salamat Po Awards for Outstanding Volunteer for KALAHI-CIDSS was conferred on Vilma D. Mainit, BDC-TWG Head of Angilan, Aloguinsan, Cebu for showing her commitment to volunteering for 7 years in the program and her contribution to instilling the program’s principle towards community development building.
Under the same category, the Best Volunteer Group went to Nug-as Active Worker’s Association (NAWA) of Nug-as, Alcoy, Cebu for enjoining women to create opportunities after the implementation of the program in their community.
The recipient of Gawad sa Paglilingkod sa Sambayanan (GAPAS) Award for Model Local Government Unit (LGU) implementing the KALAHI-CIDSS is the Municipality of Sibulan, Negros Oriental for actively promoting the Additional Financing and for showing responsive approach to foster the participation of local officials in response to the needs of the agency’s implementation of projects.
Through this recognition, awardees celebrate their hard work and commit to carrying on the KALAHI-CIDSS’s works and advocacies in their community in the face of ever-changing times.
In his keynote message, DSWD Secretary Rolando Joselito D. Bautista emphasized the theme of the anniversary. “Our celebration highlights the importance and relevance of DSWD’s brand of service in providing for the needs of the poor, vulnerable, and marginalized sectors of the community,” said Bautista.
The event also honored other partner stakeholders and staff who have made strides in achieving the agency’s commitment to fulfilling its mandate. ###
