The Department of Social Welfare and Development (DSWD) through its Assistant Secretary for Visayas Affairs Victor Juan Neri and Field Office 7 Regional Director Rebecca P. Geamala recently led the distribution of Assistance to Individuals in Crisis Situation (AICS) to some vulnerable sectors.

A total of 17,763,000 pesos have been distributed by DSWD Field Office 7 through its program AICS to 5,921 indigent beneficiaries who received Php 3,000 each this August 2021.

Some of the vulnerable sectors who received the financial aids includes market vendors from Tagbilaran City and Persons with Disabilities (PWD) from the towns of Maribojoc, Loon, Baclayon, Loboc and Catigbian.

Aside from PWDs, displaced workers, solo parents, indigent families and individuals from the municipalities of Calape, Antequera, Batuan, Duero, Anda, Dauis, Danao and Sikatuna also received assistance.

There were also victims of the recent Tropical Storm Dante from the towns of Candijay and Loay and displaced workers in the tourism sectors who were greatly affected by the lockdown who received as well.

Liliosa Alcala, a senior citizen from La Salinas, Loay was thankful to DSWD for the grant. “Gamiton ni nako para palit pagkaon ug tambal,” (I will use it to buy food and medicine) said Alcala.

AICS is part of the DSWD’s protective services for the poor, marginalized and vulnerable/disadvantaged individuals. ###
