The Department of Social Welfare and Development (DSWD) Field Office VII recently conducted a three-day leadership seminar to the 30 Sama-Bajau youth volunteers, representatives of Civil Society Organization (CSOs), Indigenous Peoples (IP) focal person of the local government unit and DSWD staff, held at Alta Cebu Village Resort and Convention Center in Cordova, Cebu.

The training aimed to equip the participants with necessary knowledge, to develop their leadership skills and to have them acquire values of and qualities of an effective leader and team player.

“Through this training, we hope to create a pool of Sama-Bajau youth leaders and advocates who can help the project implementers and

partners in promoting Sama-Bajau’s culture and traditions,” said Angelina Paghubasan, DSWD-VII Social Welfare Officer III and focal person for the Comprehensive Program for Street Children and Street Families. ###
