The Department of Social Welfare and Development Field Office 7 caps off the 72nd anniversary by recognizing employees, local government units (LGUs), the media, and non-government organizations (NGOs), among others, through different award categories.

Undersecretary Rowena Niña Taduran graced the event and delivered the keynote message of Secretary Rex Gatchalian.

Regional Director Shalaine Marie Lucero welcomed the guests and participants to the 72nd founding anniversary of DSWD Field Office VII.

In the message, Secretary Gatchalian congratulated Field Office 7 for its significant contribution to the accomplishments of the department in providing social protection.

He also acknowledged the National Government Agencies (NGAs), NGOs, and LGUs in Central Visayas as valuable partners of DSWD in providing prompt, and compassionate service for the poor, vulnerable, and marginalized sectors of society.

Through the Program on Awards and Incentives for Service Excellence (PRAISE) awards, DSWD FO7 honored groups and individual staff who have shown exemplary performance in their line of duty while adhering to the ethical values of the department. This also includes citations, loyalty and service Awards.

The following offices and individuals received special citation awards:

Social Marketing Unit: Pusong May Patas na Pagtrato sa Komunidad sa Larangan ng Pag-aanunsyo at Pamamahayag; Kerwin R. Macopia: Pusong May Malasakit sa Larangan ng Pampublikong Impormasyon; Mary Ann C. Pastedio: Kawaning may Katangi-tanging Puso sa Paglilingkod; Quick Response Team: Pusong Maagap at Mapagkalinga; AVRC II: Pusong Mahusay; Margie D. Pinton, Ma. Christina De la Cruz, Nesty Jean L. Dominese, Mary Cris N. Oscar, and Jeannette L. Sy: Pusong Magiting.

The Innovation Award was given to the following groups: Adoption Resource and Referral Section (ARRS): Best Knowledge Management Initiative; Disaster Response Management Division: OSH Kaya! FO7 Disaster Response and Emergency Preparedness Initiatives.

These groups received the following: Tayasan Municipal Action Team: Best Convergence Action Team; Procurement Section: Best Support Office; Crisis Intervention Section (CIS): Best Crisis Intervention Unit; ARRS: Best Operations Office.

The following internal staff were recognized: Cherry Ann L. Gabriano- Best Houseparent; Maureene Tracey T. Flores- Best Administrative Staff; Roganciano B. Libaton: Best Driver; Pamela Rose N. Evangelista: Best Technical Staff; Ligaya G. Dael: Best Center Head; Artemia C. Degamo: Best Section Head; and Rosemarie S. Salazar: Best Division Chief.

Asteria C. Geraldizo, Marie Chris P. Barrera, and Luz C. Fegarido were awarded as the Best Center-Based Social Worker, the Best Community-Based Social Worker, and the Best Technical Social Worker, respectively.

Cost Economy Measures Awardees were:  Administrative support of the Visayas Disaster Resource Center; Social Services Section, AVRC II; Logistics Management Section, VDRC; and Home for Girls. Jether D. Locsin received the Career and Self-Development Incentive award.

In her response message, Fegarido expressed her gratitude for the accolade. “This accomplishment would not have been valuable if not for the support of my supervisors.”

Retirees were also given the service awards: Juana E. Palacio, Hazel A. Ornopia, Susan Ortiza, Elvira L. Mañus, Rizalina L. Patindol, Angelita M. Genil, and Francis B. Torrejos.

Posthumous Awards were given to the families of Rebecca P. Geamala, Milagros E. Lanticse, Maximino D. Colita Jr., and Christopher S. Camarillo.

The Pagkilala sa Natatanging Kontribusyon sa Bayan (PaNata ko sa Bayan) award is a recognition given to our partners and stakeholders for sharing their resources, time, and efforts in the implementation of the department’s programs and services.

Under the PaNata ko sa Bayan awards are sub awards. These include Gawad Ulat for the media, Salamat Po for the NGOs, Gawad Paglilingkod sa Sambayanan (GAPAS) for the LGUs, and partner citations.

Gawad Ulat for Most DSWD-Supportive Beat Reporters were: Carmel Loise M. Matus (Broadcast), Futch Anthony G. Inso (Online Media), and Mitchelle Palaubsanon (Print); Superbalita Cebu: Most Supportive Cebuano Newspaper; The Freeman: Most Supportive English Newspaper; DYMF Bombo Radyo Cebu: Most Supportive Radio Station; GMA 7 Regional TV: Most Supportive TV station; and CDN Digital: Most Supportive Online News website.

Salamat Po awardees were: Ernesto “Asay” Yu Foundation, Inc.: Best NGO; Philippine Air Force: Best Volunteer Group; and Negros Oriental State University (NORSU): Best Development Partners Local Group.

The GAPAS awardees were: Lapu-lapu City: Model LGU implementing an outstanding Sustainable Livelihood Program Microenterprise Development Model and Model LGU implementing Pantawid Pamilyang Pilipino Program; Sierra Bullones, Bohol: Model LGU implementating Kalahi-CIDSS; Pag-asa Youth Association of the Philippines: City of Talisay, Cebu: Best Peoples Organization; Tayasan, Negros Oriental: Good Convergence Initiatives; and Mr. Junard Suico Abalos from Lapu-lapu city received a special citation of the devotion of duty award.

Mayor Junard “Ahong” Chan of Lapu-Lapu City expressed his deepest gratitude for the honors received. “Ang inyong tema karon DSWD@72: Kaagapay sa Pagbangon, Katuwang sa Bawat Hamon, haom kaayo.
