A day after killer quake hit and wrought havoc in Central Visayas, the Department of Social Welfare and Development(DSWD) , Field Office-7 Relief Operations Center reported a total of 30,359 Individually Displaced Persons (IDPs ) currently staying inside the 51 Evacuation Centers in the provinces of Bohol and Cebu. Another 7,069 families were also extended helped outside the evacuation centers as of 8:00 am today.
Bohol has the highest number of Evacuation Centers (EC) numbering 34 followed by Cebu 17, all in Cebu City. Breakdown of ECs located in Bohol: Alicia (2), Bilar (7), Buenavista (2), Calape (6), Corella (2), Loboc (4), Sierra Bullones (1), Tubigon (4), Ubay (5) and tagbilaran City (1).
In Cebu City, ECs are located in the following barangays: Sawang Calero, Pasil Elementary School, San Nicolas Church, Carlock School, Kasambagan Gym, Cogon Pardo Gym, Mormons Church, Abella Sports Complex, Gogon Ramos Gym, San Nicolas Elemenrtary School, Senior Citizen’s Office (Paril), Lahug Gym, Kasambagan Basketball Court, Brgy. Banawa Gun Club, Bulacao Community School, Barangay Tinago Gym, and Inayawan Covered Court.
While waiting for more reports to arrive, Field Offce-7 has so far recorded 6,339 families or 37,426 individuals served in all the affected areas. Most of them are served with loaves of bread, packed lunch and family packs comprising of canned goods, rice, noodles and water good for three days for a family of six.
DSWD has initially sent to Bohol 2,000 Family Packs via C130 of the Philippine Air Force (PAF), another 1,250 packs via Coast Guard and is still continuously packing 2 Million- worth of family packs for dispatch to the affected areas round the clock.
With the activation of its Quick Response Teams (QRT) and the 24-hour hotline (2329507) in place , DSWD expects to receive more reports this afternoon.
The round the clock monitoring of the delivery of relief assistance both food and non-food hopes to alleviate the plight of IDPs served inside evacuation and outside their temporary shelters. (PR- jaybee binghay)
