The Department of Social Welfare and Development (DSWD) Field Office 7 leads the kick-off activity of the 24th National Family Week Celebration on September 24, 2016 at the Children’s Playground, Plaza Independencia, Cebu City from 4:00 o’clock in the afternoon to 7:00 o’clock in the evening. The celebration will end on September 30, 2016.
The event is a yearly celebration in accordance with Presidential Proclamation No. 60 signed on September 28, 1992 and Executive Order No. 241 dated June 9, 1995.
This week-long celebration slated on September 24-30, 2016 carries the theme “Matatag na Pamilya, Maunlad na Bukas”, which gives recognition to the contribution of a resilient Filipino family in achieving a better future.
“We expect 100 families to participate in this inter-agency program as we aim to raise public awareness on the importance of advocating for strong Filipino families,” says Director Ma. Evelyn B. Macapobre of DSWD-7.
She added that this inter-agency gathering will engage the families into friendly games, a film showing on gender and family, sharing about disciplining children without harm and sharing of meals together with other families.
On September 30, DSWD-7 will hold a Family Day to be participated in by about 400 Pantawid Pamilya beneficiaries to discuss topics on family disaster preparedness, nutrition and responsible parenthood. ###
