The payouts for the Cash-For-Work program of Kapit-Bisig Laban sa Kahirapan-Comprehensive and Integrated Delivery of Social Services-Kapangyarihan at Kaunlaran sa Barangay (KALAHI-CIDSS-KKB) DSWD Region 7 has started in the municipalities of Medellin, Daanbantayan, and Samboan, Cebu on May 19, 20, and 25, 2021, respectively.
The DSWD has released Php 2.5 Million for 974 beneficiaries who had the opportunity to work for five (5) to (10) days by cleaning the streets, shorelines and by disinfecting public areas in their community. Beneficiaries also engaged in backyard gardening, which they considered important, during the pandemic.
“Dako akong pasalamat sa DSWD ug sa mga nagpaluyo niining programa kay nahatagan ko og higayon nga mapalambo ang akoang pagpananom og utanon (I am very grateful to this program because it gave me the opportunity to improve my vegetable farming),” shared Bernarda Pino of Brgy. Curva, Medellin. She added that planting in her own yard will provide for their daily food even after the program.
DSWD 7 Regional Director Rebecca P. Geamala, local government officials and congresspersons attended the activity in the respective towns.
Meanwhile, on May 26, 2021 the program also released Php 350,000 grant for the municipality of Guindulman province of Bohol with 96 beneficiaries and Php 650,000 for 513 beneficiaries in Garcia and Sierra Bullones next week.
Other municipalities in Cebu province, namely Barili, Tabogon, and Talisay City are expected to have their payouts. ###
