The Department of Social Welfare and Development (DSWD) Field Office VII has recently inaugurated its new Social Welfare and Development (SWAD) Bohol Office building as it celebrates its 67th founding anniversary.

Rev. Fr. Marcelo Operiano, Jr. of St. Augustine Parish of Panglao town officiated the thanksgiving mass and blessing of the new SWAD Bohol.

According to Papiasa Bustrillos, the SWAD Bohol Team Leader, the building is a realization of their life-long dream to have a building of its own for SWAD Bohol office.

“We are grateful for the Provincial Government of Bohol especially to Governor Edgar Chatto for providing this lot to the DSWD so that we can construct a new building and this will inspire us more to provide the best service to all Boholanos especially those are needy,” Bustrillos said.

The two-storey building located in M. Parras St., Circumferential Road, Dampas District, Tagbilaran City houses the workers of SWAD Bohol who are assigned in the Expanded-Assistance to Individual in Crisis Situations (E-AICS), Pantawid Pamilyang Pilipino Program and the Sustainable Livelihood Program (SLP).

The new building also has its own warehouse which stores its stockpile of non-food items and family food packs ready for distribution in time of disaster.

After the blessing, a short program followed which included the giving of the President’s felicitation letters to the four centenarians, awarding of certificate and turn-over of checks to SLP partner-beneficiaries and awarding of plaque of recognition to the Eskaya Tribe of Brgy. Lundag, Pilar, Bohol as Indigenous People (IP) model community.

Bohol Governor Edgar Chatto, some members of the Sangguniang Panlalawigan and Municipal Mayors attended the blessing and inauguration ceremony.

Other DSWD newly constructed buildings were inaugurated in separate occasions, like the new expansion building in the regional office and the new SWAD Cebu building located in Brgy. Carreta, Cebu City, multipurpose hall in the Area Vocational Rehabilitation Center II (AVRC) and new building of the Regional Haven which are located in Brgy. Labangon, Cebu City.

The DSWD-7 also inaugurated on February 22, 2018 the newly-constructed second floor of the Regional Rehabilitation Center for Youth (RRCY) building located in Argao, Cebu. ###
