The Department of Social Welfare and Development Field Office 7 delivered 12,941 Family Food Packs (FFPs) to families affected by weather disturbances in the Municipality of Madridejos, Cebu on November 26 to December 1, 2023.

The beneficiaries are mostly fisherfolk and their families living in the coastal barangays in Madridejos, whose main livelihood was affected by a low-pressure area and shear line in mid-November.

Based on Field Office 7’s Disaster Response Operations Monitoring and Information Center Report #6 on the Effects of Low-Pressure Area and Shear Line, published on December 1, the total cost of assistance delivered reached Php 8.62 million.

The Field Office delivered the FFP assistance to 14 barangays such as Bunakan, Kangwayan, Kaongkod, Kodia, Maalat, Malbago, Mancilang, Pili, Poblacion, San Agustin, Tabagak, Talangnan, Tarong, and Tugas following an augmentation request and coordination with the Local Government Unit of Madridejos as the first responder.

DSWD FFPs are composed of six (6) kilos of rice, four (4) tin cans of sardines, four (4) tin cans of corned beef, five (5) sachets of coffee, and five (5) sachets of cereal drinks.
Meanwhile, the agency prepares another set of augmentation support through food items for distribution in the first week of December to families affected by the same weather disturbance in Pres. Carlos P. Gacia (Pitogo) in the Province of Bohol. ###
