Nindot kaayo ilang mga kanta ug boses, makapahupay sa among kaguol (They have nice songs and voices, they ease our burden),” said Cherry Ann Dedace from Brgy. San Roque, Cebu City.

Cherry Ann is processing the documents for the medical assistance for her mother who is currently confined in a private hospital.

Under the E-AICS, the DSWD provides medical, educational, burial, transportation as well as non-food assistance to persons or families in crisis situations, particularly those who belong to the informal sector and other poor, marginalized, vulnerable, and disadvantaged individuals.

The serenade to CIU clients is part of the week-long celebration of the DSWD 67th founding anniversary.

“This year’s anniversary celebration highlights the importance of building and promoting integrity among its officials and employees,” Regional Director Ma. Evelyn B. Macapobre said.

“Thus, the theme “DSWD@67: Walang Puwang sa Katiwalian ang Paglilingkod nang Tapat sa Bayan (true public service with no space for corruption),” Macapobre added.

“Public service with no corruption is both integral in delivering true, dedicated and effective public service,” Macapobre underscored.

The celebration started on February 5, with a Quiz Bee among DSWD-7 employees and opening of the Sustainable Livelihood Program (SLP) Bazaar.

Various products like the ChocoBao from Bohol, high quality footwear from Cebu, native bags and purse from Negros Oriental and accessories from Siquijor made by partner-beneficiaries were proudly displayed at the DSWD-7 regional office.

On February 6, DSWD-7 employees had also participated in the Employee Welfare Program through different orientations like Financial Literacy conducted by various life insurances, Drug Awareness lecture handled by a resource person from Philippine Drug Enforcement Agency (PDEA) and a lecture on Tobacco Control Program handled by the Department of Health (DOH).

Selected sports and game activities were also conducted on February 7.

Today, February 9, DSWD-7 will give awards to outstanding and long-time employees through the Program on Awards and Incentives for Service Excellence or “PRAISE Awards”.

Partner Non-Government Organizations (NGOs), media, private individuals and institutions who helped the Department in achieving its mission and vision will also be recognized. ###
