The Department of Social Welfare and Development in Region VII calls Pantawid Pamilyang Pilipino Program (4Ps) beneficiaries for the first-ever “Search for Gulayan sa Barangay” this August 2021.

The Gulayan sa Barangay (GSP) is one of the platforms of 4Ps in promoting health, nutrition, and food security that encourages beneficiaries to engage in community gardening.

This encourages 4Ps partner-beneficiaries to do edible gardening where families get to enjoy and have access to fresh, organic, and nutritious food as well as stimulates savings, livelihood, and response to environmental protection.

GSP anchors on the General Appropriations Act (GAA) provision that the 4Ps shall require its beneficiaries to maintain organic vegetable gardens in open spaces within their areas.

With this search, DSWD-7 determines exceptional GSP that has been successfully cultivated by 4Ps group-beneficiaries through the following indicators: the practice of organic culture; production and variety of edible crops and vegetables; creativity and innovativeness; resourcefulness; and, documentation.

DSWD-7 will proclaim three winners per province in the region where the first prize will get 10,000 pesos; followed by the second prize for 5,000 pesos; and, the third prize for 3,000 pesos. Winners will also receive a certificate of recognition.

Interested 4Ps group-beneficiaries are encouraged to visit and talk to their Pantawid City/Municipal Link (C/ML) for more details. The last day of submission of entries will be on August 9, 2021. ###
