The Department of Social Welfare and Development (DSWD) Field Office VII trained Pantawid Pamilya partner-beneficiaries on Entrepreneurship Development Training (EDT) in partnership with the Tagbilaran City Government and the Department of Trade and Industry (DTI).

Ms. Claire Apale (standing) from the Department of Trade and Industry (DTI) serves as the resource speaker for the Entrepreneurship Development Training (EDT) to 4Ps beneficiaries in Barangay Booy, Tagbilaran City.

The 76 Pantawid Pamilya partner-beneficiaries in Barangay Booy, Tagbilaran City, Bohol were trained in preparation for their upcoming livelihood project funded by the DSWD through the Sustainable Livelihood Program (SLP) to help alleviate their socio economic condition.

Pantawid Pamilya Social Welfare Officer (SWO) III Ma. Charo Poligrates said the training aims to help the beneficiaries become real entrepreneurs and not just a fly by night merchants.

“Social preparation is the most important and integral part of doing and implementing a project. That’s why, before the actual business operation, participants must be socially, mentally and emotionally prepared,” said Poligrates.

The training was divided into morning and afternoon sessions and each participant listened to the lecture and embraced the new knowledge imparted to them by the resource speakers from DTI.

There was also a group dynamic activity on sharing of ideas and concept about the discussions and afterwards each group presented their outputs.

Due to the success of the EDT, the training was also replicated to other barangay associations like Manga, Ubujan and Mansasa.

According to Riza Pandan, “Ang natabang sa EDT kay ang paghatag kanamu sa kahibalo aron ma-andam kung unsaon pagdala sa umaabot namong negosyo. Unsaon pag-pamaligya or pag-deal sa mga customer aron mu-asenso (EDT helped us to gain knowledge for us to be ready to engage in business like how to market the products and how to deal with customers in order to succeed).”

Labaw pa gi-tudloan kami og mga pama-agi kun unsay buhaton aron dili malugi ug ang importante pud kay naa mi savings (Moreover, we were taught on strategies that will help keep us from bankruptcy. And most importantly we were taught about savings),” Riza added. ###
