To cap off the month-long Adoption Consciousness celebration, the Department of Social Welfare and Development (DSWD) Field Office VII awarded creative adoption theme corner to local government units (LGUs) and offices from the DSWD Field Office VII.

The Color Your Station contest was participated by 25 LGUs in the Central Visayas region that creatively decorated the interior and exterior of their local social welfare and development office and other conspicuous space within their City and Municipal Hall.

The color symbolizes the universal love of oneself and others. And has been associated with adoption.

The Municipality of Pilar, Cebu won the first prize in the LGU category for their creative and artistic design.

According to Genevieve Sebios, municipal social welfare and development officer (MSWDO) of Pilar, Cebu, her team used recycled materials from different caps of soft drinks to form the family portrait inside a big heart, which illustrated the bond between the adoptive parents and adopted children.

She added that their Color Your Station also included different IEC materials about legal adoption.

Meanwhile, the Municipality of Balamban and the City of Naga in Cebu placed second and third, respectively.

Other participating LGUs from Cebu are Santander, Lapu-Lapu City, Toledo City, Liloan, Talisay City, Moalboal, Barili, Asturias, Dumanjug, and Mandaue City.

The LGUs of Jagna, San Miguel, Tagbilaran City, Dauis, Loon, Loay, Pilar, and Lila in Bohol and Dumaguete City and Guihulngan City in Negros Oriental and the Municipality of Maria, Siquijor also participated in the contest.

Different divisions and units of DSWD-7 also showcased their creativity and craftsmanship in designing their adoption theme corner.

The Reception and Study Center for Children (RSCC) emerged as the winner among the 13 entries.

The Social Welfare and Development (SWAD) Cebu and the Crisis Intervention Section (CIS) placed as second and third place, respectively.

Other offices who participated are the Area Vocational Rehabilitation Center (AVRC) II, Disaster Response Management Division (DRMD), Financial Management Division (FMD), Human Resource Management and Development Division (HRMDD), Home for Girls (HFG), Office of the Regional Director (ORD), Records and Archives Section, Regional Haven for Women, Recovery and Reintegration Program for Trafficked Persons (RRPTP), and Social Pension.

The entries were judged based on the uniqueness of design, relevance to the theme, creative use of decorations, and overall presentation.

The Color Your Station highlights the celebration’s theme, which is “Pagmamahal Palaganapin, Legal na Pag-aampon Ating Gawin!” (Spread Unconditional Love Through Legal Adoption). The theme promotes legal adoption as a form of unconditional love between adoprtive parents and their adopted children. ###
