The Department of Social Welfare and Development (DSWD) Field Office VII continues to deliver assistance to local government units even after a month Typhoon Odette made landfall in Central Visayas.

Bais City Chief of Staff Rolin Obina and CSWDO Corazon Dinopol received the Family Tents from DSWD.

Bais City, one of the hardly-hit areas in the province of Negros Oriental, received 110 sets of family tents for the relocation of families currently seeking temporary refuge at the evacuation center.

The assistance is on top of the 16,100 Family Food Packs (FFPs) and 100 sets of modular tents that DSWD has already released since the start of relief operations in the province.

Rolin Obina, chief of staff to City Mayor Mercedes T. Goñi, received the DSWD assistance as part of the early recovery support to the city. “We are glad of DSWD’s help in rebuilding our city and recovery of our people from the devastation brought by Typhoon Odette,” he said.

DSWD Assistant Secretary for Disaster Response Management Group Rodolfo M. Encabo, on his visit to the city on 25 January 2022, ensures that ongoing operations to check the post-typhoon situation in the city and provision of the agency’s disaster response will continue.

DSWD has also provided technical assistance to the city’s social welfare office about camp management and financial assistance distribution.

Asec Encabo committed to deploying social workers for displaced families’ debriefing and for workers doing social welfare services, ensuring mental and psychosocial support is prioritized. ###
