The Department of Social Welfare and Development Field Office 7 celebrated the success of 41 persons with disabilities (PWDs) who graduated from the different courses offered at the Area Vocational Rehabilitation Center (AVRC) II during the 46th Commencement Exercises with the theme “Embracing Changes and Sustaining the Legacy of Empowering Persons with Disabilities,” which coincided with the celebration of the center’s 49th Founding Anniversary at the AVRC II Covered Court, Labangon, Cebu City.

The celebration happened on September 28, 2023, with a morning mass, followed by an oath-taking ceremony of the interim officers for the AVRC II Alumni Association, who pledged their commitment to serving their fellow persons with disabilities (PWD).

The graduates completed diverse courses, which include Massage Therapy, Commercial Cooking, Computer Systems Servicing, Dressmaking, Basic Cosmetology, Domestic Work, and Electronics Products Assembly and Servicing.

These dedicated individuals who took their oath, including Venerando A. Ingking (President), Leo Abuda (Vice-President), Joseph Jumantoc (Secretary), Hilario Barriga Jr. (Treasurer), Leonara Dela Calzada (Auditor), Phobe Añora, and Ryan Joseph Orillaneda (PRO), pledged their unwavering commitment to assisting and serving their fellow persons with disabilities (PWD).

This occasion also marked the 49th Founding Anniversary of the Area Vocational Rehabilitation Center II, reaffirming its enduring dedication to serving individuals with special needs. Over the years, AVRC II has consistently delivered high-quality services and played a pivotal role in educating and training capable graduates across a broad spectrum of service areas.

Regional Director Shalaine Marie S. Lucero emphasized in her message to the graduates the importance of giving back to the community, particularly with AVRC II. Director Lucero encouraged the graduates not to solely focus on accumulating wealth but to find inner peace and strive for sustainable income. She stressed that AVRC aims to maintain a center of excellence where its graduates are ready to become exemplary members of society. ###
