Since the second week of April this year, the Area-Based Standards Network (ABSNET) in Central Visayas has met with clusters in Bohol, Cebu, Negros Oriental, and Siquijor on separate dates.

Area-Based Standards Network (ABSNET) convenes Cebu Residential and Community-based Cluster on April 11 and 12, 2023 in Cebu City.

ABSNET is an organization of DSWD-registered, licensed, and accredited social welfare and development agencies.

In the activity, network members were given a timely orientation, conducted by the Securities and Exchange Commission’s Director herself, Dir. Sheara Lupango Tamayo, on the reporting requirements and amnesty program of the commission for non-government organizations.

Jennifer B. Quimno, DSWD-7 Project Development Officer IV and Standards Sections Head explained that inviting guests and conducting orientations will generate awareness among all Social Welfare and Development Associations (SWADAs).

“The SEC orientation to ABSNET is important in raising awareness to all SWDAs about the reportorial requirements to be submitted. It will guide them in the process of securing documents required by DSWD as well as provide updates on the status of their registration,” Quimno said.

An oath-taking ceremony was also held during the cluster meeting for the newly elected ABSNET officers.

The newly elected officers are expected to actively mobilize the network and be fully functional as partners of DSWD in delivering social welfare and development programs and services throughout the Central Visayas.

The cluster meeting aims to ensure quality implementation of social welfare and development programs and services for the disadvantaged and marginalized sectors; strengthen regional and national area-based networks to assist the department in the implementation of its regulatory functions; and promote meaningful participation of the intermediaries as partners of DSWD along with standards development, promotion, and compliance. ###
