A total of 75 sub-projects were turned over to the 67 barangays of Municipality of Loon during the recent municipal-wide turn-over, blessing and inauguration.

The Municipality of Loon received a total grant of Php 33,481,578.00, for there sub-projects which include, 25 Day Care Centers, 10 water systems, 25 access roads and 8 multi-purpose buildings.

According to Renato Barace, Barangay Sub-Project Management Committee (BSPMC) Chairperson of Brgy. Cantamukan, “Nabag-ohan sa sistema, kay sauna naanad lang nga ang mga opisyales ra ang madunggan. Pero sa Kalahi-CIDSS ang kina-ubsan madunggan na (We were new to this system. We were used to only hear and follow our local officials but with Kalahi-CIDSS ordinary people were also heard).

The Municipality of Loon was identified under the 177 category. This category was derived from a total number of municipalities that are not poor but Yolanda/earthquake affected. Municipalities under this category were only given 1 cycle/year of implementation.

“As we continue to help rehabilitate the towns devastated by the 7.2 magnitude earthquake through our various programs and services in DSWD, we appreciate the community camaraderie in successfully implementing the identified sub-projects,” said Regional Director Ma. Evelyn Macapobre.

“I know the process was not that easy but despite all the challenges, I also know that it’s all worth it,” added Macapobre.

Kalahi-CIDSS, is one of the poverty alleviation programs of the Philippine Government being implemented by the Department of Social Welfare and Development (DSWD).

It uses the community-driven development (CDD) approach, a globally recognized strategy for achieving service delivery, poverty reduction, and good governance outcomes.

The development objective of Kalahi-CIDSS is to have barangays/communities of targeted municipalities become empowered to achieve improved access to services and to participate in more inclusive local planning, budgeting, and implementation. ###
