In five (5) separate occasions, 416 partner-beneficiaries of the Sustainable Livelihood Program (SLP) of the Department of Social Welfare and Development (DSWD) finished different short courses that could help them get a job or engage in livelihood activities.

The partner-beneficiary graduates are all smiles as they finish their Housekeeping NCII course funded by the Department of Social Welfare and Development’s Sustainable Livelihood Program.

These 416 partner-beneficiaries were from twenty-five (25) different places in Cebu province namely; Cebu City, Mandaue City, Balamban, Carcar City, Loboc, Malabuyoc, Minglanilla City, Naga City, San Fernando, Sibonga, Talisay City, Compostela, Tudela, Sogod, Liloan, Tabogon, San Remegio, Bantayan Island, Boljoon, Medellin, Lapu-Lapu City, Dalaguete, Camotes, Santa Fe and Toledo. Some of them are also members of the Pantawid Pamilyang Pilipino Program (4Ps) of the DSWD.

The skills training was done in partnership with the Café-Gonzales Security Training Academy, Inc. for the security services training; Center for Healthcare professions Cebu Inc. for the Hilot (Wellness Massage) and Housekeeping; Talisay City Livelihood Training Center for the Beauty Care and another Housekeeping training.

The Café-Gonzales Security Training Academy, Inc. produced at least 279 graduates of Pre-Licensing training course NC I in July 2017. The short course took the standard 21 days training. Upon graduation day, some partner-beneficiaries were hired on the spot. A total of 112 graduates are already working in different agencies like New Mabuhay International Security Agency, Cebu Target, Topwatch, Silver Lion, Lancer, Thilmusa, Kenard and Genghis Khan Security Agency. Other graduates are still working on their employment.

The Center for Healthcare Professions Cebu (CHP) Inc. has a total graduate of 78 partner-beneficiaries. There were 44 graduates of Housekeeping NCII and 34 graduates of Hilot (Wellness Massage) NCII in August 2017. Some graduates in Housekeeping are currently working at Uncle Tam’s Hotel, Red Planet Hotel, Capitol Hotel, Toyoko International Hotel, Papa Kits Marine Fishing Lagoon, Estaca Bay Resort, Copenhagen Residences and Anda Hotel. For the Hilot (Wellness Massage) graduates are also working at the Bentosa Spa, Body and Soul, Nuah Thai Cebu and Spa Cebu.

In partnership with the Talisay City Livelihood Training Center, 59 partner-beneficiaries were given the hope for livelihood as they took the skills training on Beauty Care with 39 participants and Housekeeping with 20 participants. Among the 59 graduates, 35 are already hired and the rest are still looking for a job.

The SLP is a multi-stakeholder program of the government implemented by the Department of Social Welfare and Development (DSWD).  It aims to improve the standard of living of poor households by facilitating opportunities for development and management of resources viable for micro-enterprises, community empowerment through skills training and employment facilitation. ###
