The Sustainable Livelihood Program (SLP) provided cash assistance to fire victims in Barangay Poblacion, Talisay City, Cebu to help them recover their livelihood.

Jessa manages her sari-sari store funded by DSWD.

Jessa Cabusas, one of the 12 recipients, shared that with the P20,000 cash assistance they received from SLP, they have slowly revived their business. “Nakabangon gyud mi pagkadawat namo sa assistance. Mao kini among gigamit pagbangon sa negosyo. Ang ginansya gigamit usa namo sa pag upgrade to selling vegetables ug pagpa-extend sa tindahan (We revived the business when we received the assistance. We used the profit to sell vegetables and to extend our store),” disclosed Jessa.

Niabot man ang pandemic human sa sunog pero naka-recover ra pud kay nakapadayon mis pagpaninda, sa hinayhinay ni kita man gihapon, motoltol raman ang tawo sa amo tindahan (The pandemic came after the fire, but we survive and slowly recovered. We continued selling and slowly making money because people patronize our store),” added Jessa, recalling their struggles.

Jessa survived the fire incident in Talisay City on January 7, 2020. She said the assistance has helped them recovered their losses.

In 2020, the SLP released P330 million livelihood assistance that includes livelihood assistance for referrals, fire victims, EO70, and the Livelihood Assistance Grant (LAG), which caters to a total of 38,779 families or households in region 7. ###
