The Department of Social Welfare and Development (DSWD), through the Sustainable Livelihood Program (SLP), recently signed a memorandum of agreement with its partners at the Robinson’s Galleria Cebu Atrium.

DSWD Regional Director Shalaine Marie S. Lucero led the signing of the memorandum of agreement with partners from the government and private agencies.

DSWD 7 Regional Director Shalaine Marie S. Lucero led the MOA signing and expressed her gratitude to the partners who responded and pledged their commitment to support the program. “I would like to express my gratitude to our partners who accepted our invitation to provide an opportunity for our beneficiaries to experience transformation in their lives. This is a significant milestone, and we are thrilled you are part of it,” said Lucero in her welcome message.

The partner agencies will aid in the implementation of the Sustainable Livelihood Program by helping the program participants strengthen their skills, competencies, abilities, and resources through skills training and technical assistance to improve the participants’ socio-economic status.

Among the new partners for SLP implementation are 16 government and four (4) private agencies such as the Department of Social Welfare and Development, Department of Agriculture, Agricultural Training Institute, Bureau of Fisheries and Aquatic Resources,

National Irrigation Administration, Philippine Carabao Center, Fiber Industry Development Authority, Cooperative Development Authority, Department of Trade and Industry, National Anti-Poverty Commission, Presidential Commission for the Urban Poor, Technical Education and Skills Development Authority, Bohol Island State University, Cebu Technological University, Negros Oriental State University, Siquijor State College; Alturas Supermarket Corporation, BSIT International College, Holy Name University, University of San Carlos.

This event pleased not only the program beneficiaries but also the partner agencies by providing help to improve the economic status of program participants.

According to Chloe Manlosa, Chief of Operations of PCUP, they are delighted and see the importance of complementarity, at the same time, forging the path towards converging efforts so as not to waste government funds because they will work together for these associations to become contributors to our society.

“We will hold hands to help these associations improve their socio-economic status,” Manlosa added.

The SLP has disbursed PHP 393,186,400.00 seed capital funds to the 24,427 program participants in the entire region in the 2023 implementation.

Regional Director Lucero assured the program participants that it would serve as their pact of promise and that the partnership would work together to provide them with good service.

Addressing the partners, Director Lucero said they let the beneficiaries feel their importance because the agencies are here not to expand their respective agencies but to expand their services to them. ###
