A total of 700 recipients from Cebu City, Mandaue City, and Lapu-Lapu City received one family food pack each and financial assistance of Php 5,000 each through AICS, which is intended for the educational needs of the youth, medical expenses, and other support services for solo parents, senior citizens, and women’s groups who experience crisis situations. The total cost of assistance is Php 3.8 million.

The DSWD’s family food pack contains six (6) kilos of rice, four (4) cans of canned tuna, two (2) cans of canned sardines, four (4) cans of corned beef, five (5) sachets of 3-in-1 coffee, and five (5) sachets of cereal drinks. The family food pack is good for three days for a family with five members.

Kaya po hindi po namin ititigil, hindi ko po makalimutan ang init ng inyong pagsuporta, hindi ko po makakalimutan. Kaya’t lagi kong iniisip the support and the affection that I receive from you I have to pay back. And if it takes the rest of my life, I will happily spend the rest of my life paying it back to you,” said the President in his speech during the distribution of various government assistance.

Undersecretary for Special Projects Eduardo M. Punay represented DSWD Secretary Rex Gatchalian during the ceremonial turn-over of assistance together with other government officials, including House Speaker Ferdinand Martin Romualdez and Cebu Governor Gwendolyn Garcia.

DSWD Secretary Rex Gatchalian was in Carmen, Davao del Norte, to lead the distribution of relief assistance to disaster-affected families brought on by a localized thunderstorm.

Another government assistance provided was funding for the three cooperatives under the Department of Labor and Employment’s (DOLE) Integrated Livelihood Program, livelihood assistance under DOLE’s Tulong Panghanapbuhay sa Ating Disadvantaged/Displaced Workers (TUPAD), the Corn Banner Program and other agricultural funds for Cebu farmers under the Department of Agriculture (DA), and financial assistance under the Department of Trade and Industry’s (DTI) livelihood program.

Prior to the distribution of various government assistance in Mandaue City, the President also graced the “Kadiwa ng Pangulo in Cebu” held at the Cebu Provincial Capitol grounds.

DSWD-7, through the Sustainable Livelihood Program (SLP), joined the activity by displaying and selling food and non-food items.

“Kadiwa ng Pangulo” seeks to sell micro, small, and medium enterprises (MSMEs) products to communities at reasonable prices. ###
