The Department of Social Welfare and Development (DSWD) Field Office 7 in Central Visayas joined the Bagong Pilipinas Serbisyo Fair in Dalaguete, Cebu, on April 13, 2024.

A beneficiary receives Php 4,000 in cash assistance from DSWD 7 Regional Director Shalaine Marie S. Lucero during the ceremonial turnover of assistance.

DSWD and the rest of the participating government agencies, joined the caravan organized by the Office of the Presidential Assistant for the Visayas (OPAV) at Dalaguete National High School to bring government services closer to the people.

A total of 1,363 individuals received financial assistance of Php 4,000 each through the Assistance to Individuals in Crisis Situations, or AICS, one of the social welfare services of DSWD that provides different types of assistance to families or individuals in need.

These individuals are from municipalities in the 2nd District of Cebu Province, namely, Alcoy, Argao, Boljoon, Dalaguete, Oslob, Samboan, and Santander, who were identified by their local government unit before the caravan and assessed by DSWD.

DSWD set up an information booth to cater to queries from the public about the agency’s programs and services and a Public Assistance and Complaints Desk for 4Ps to accommodate caravan participants with their queries.

Regional Director Shalaine Marie S. Lucero, who led the ceremonial distribution of AICS, said that DSWD distributed Php 5.4 million worth of financial assistance to the participants. “This is one way to support the efforts of the government to bring its services closer to the people and increase public awareness about other programs and services that DSWD offers,” she said.
