In support of the Zero Hunger target of the government by 2030, the  Enhanced Partnership Against Hunger and Poverty (EPAHP) Program aims to improve production and post-harvest practices of the community-based organizations (CBOs) through the provision of production technology and facilities, skills training for Agrarian Reform Beneficiary Organizations (ARBOs), Sustainable Livelihood Program Associations (SLPAs), CBOs, and other rural-based organizations through existing and related training of partners.

Participants present their output during the workshop on the value chain.

The EPAHP gathered 31 participants, representing 15 CBOs from all over Region VII – Cebu, Negros, Bohol, and Siquijor on a workshop on the value chain from April 11-14, 2023.

Lovelyn Garcia, the EPAHP focal person, explained that the value chain encompasses the full range of activities and services required to bring a product or service from conception to sale in its final markets – local, national, regional, or global. This value chain includes input suppliers, producers, processors, buyers, and support services and enabling environments that form a dynamic market system.

Workshop participants visited the Dao Public Market in Tagbilaran City to see for themselves the current prices and quality of market products as part of their learning process. The Lamac Multi-Purpose Cooperative provided the resource persons for the training.

As the lead agency of EPAHP, the Department of Social Welfare and Development (DSWD) will continue to contribute and innovate solutions to achieve food security, reduce poverty, and end hunger and malnutrition. ###
