The Department of Social Welfare and Development (DSWD) Field Office 7 will commence the government internship program to immerse the Pag-asa Youth Association of the Philippines (PYAP) in different government works.
The program opened its application from May 8 to 17, 2024, for 75 applicants who are members of the PYAP, 3rd to 4th year college students between the ages 18 and 24, and with a family monthly income not more than the poverty threshold of Php 13,797.
GIP is a component of the Kabataan 2000 Program of the Philippine government for the youths to obtain practical experience in different government services, which may be helpful should they decide to work in the civil service.
While PYAP is a devolved program in the local government units that hold the responsibility of providing programs and services to the youth sector.
Participants will be assigned to help with tasks such as report writing, clerical and administrative work, and support for the agency’s key programs and youth-initiated activities.
After 30 working days of service, participants will receive a stipend equivalent to 75% of the regional wage rate.
Regional Director Shalaine Marie S. Lucero said this is one way to engage youth in public service, gain key experience and practical skills, and ignite their interest in joining the civil service. ###
