The Department of Social Welfare and Development (DSWD) Field Office 7, in partnership with the United Nations Children’s Fund (UNICEF), released the Humanitarian Cash Transfer Plus to 2,000 families in the Province of Bohol on April 4–8, 2022.

The Humanitarian Cash Transfer (HCT) Plus is released through UNICEF’s financial service provider, RD Pawnshop. Beneficiaries were given their unique Transaction Reference Code.

Among the beneficiaries, 537 are from the municipality of Tubigon, and 1,453 are from the municipality of San Isidro.

Each beneficiary cashed out Php 5,000.00 along with information and communication materials on UNICEF and its advocacies.  Beneficiaries from San Isidro were also given an additional PHP 100.00 as a transportation subsidy to cover their trips to and from the nearest RD Pawnshop, where they could withdraw their cash grants.

UNICEF also conducted learning sessions through a limited face-to-face discussion on child health and nutrition, protection, COVID-19 infection control, and water, sanitation, and hygiene (WASH).

Households that did not receive cash assistance from government agencies or development partners, as well as those with children aged 18 and under, lactating and/or pregnant women, children with disabilities, and those suffering from or at risk of malnutrition, have been identified as beneficiaries for the UNICEF-DSWD HCT Plus.

The UNICEF-DSWD HCT Plus also serves as the financial assistance covered under the government’s commitment to those affected by Typhoon Odette. The beneficiaries will no longer receive the DSWD Assistance to Individuals in Crisis Situations of the same amount.

The Department and UNICEF inked the Memorandum of Understanding on the process and guidelines of HCT Plus in March 2022.

As of the writing, another batch of UNICEF-DSWD HCT Plus beneficiaries in the Province of Bohol is also still being processed and identified. ###
