Philippine Coast Guard District Central Visayas personnel assist in the loading of goods to be brought to earthquake-stricken regions in Mindanao.

The Department of Social Welfare and Development Field Office VII has partnered with the Philippine Coast Guard District Central Visayas to deliver 70,000 canned fish/sardines; 30,000 pcs. Malong, and 50 rolls of 100-meter laminated sacks to help the affected families of the recent earthquake that struck Region 11 and Region 12 worth P8.3 million.

The DSWD’s Visayas Disaster Resource Center located in Mandaue City also gave 1,000 boxes of sleeping kits worth P2.3 million.

“We are sending these goods as a response to the immediate needs of the earthquake survivors,” said regional director Rebecca Geamala of DSWD 7.

The Philippine Coast Guard vessel MRRV 4406 which carried the goods departed from Cebu Port at 3:49 PM of November 2, 2019 and is expected to arrive in Cagayan de Oro City on November 3, 2019 at 2:00 AM. From Cagayan de Oro City, the goods will be brought by the Philippine Coast Guard vehicle via land trip to the earthquake-stricken regions in Mindanao.

The DSWD-7 also sent a team led by Engr. Jhon Balansag, warehouse unit head to facilitate the smooth turnover of goods to respective recipient regional offices. ###
