The Department of Social Welfare and Development (DSWD) Field Office 7—Central Visayas radio program “Ikaw ug ang DSWD Kauban sa Kabag-ohan” was honored as Best Educational Program under the radio category at the first Cebu Metropolitan Catholic Mass Media Awards (CMCMMA) at the Mountain Wing of SM Seaside City Cebu on September 29, 2024.
The Roman Catholic Archdiocese of Cebu through the Cebu Archdiocesan Commission on Social Communications (CACoSCo), which recognizes the valuable contributions of media practitioners from Cebu and its suffragan dioceses in Dumaguete, Tagbilaran, Talibon, and Maasin, organized the CMCCMA.
CMCMMA featured four (4) major categories, which included TV, radio, print, and digital media.
Cebu Archbishop Jose S. Palma, in his closing message during the awarding ceremony, said, “I take this occasion to thank all of you who are part of this significant and joyful gathering. It reminds us that despite the many challenges in our times, we also have so much goodness in us, the desire in people to contribute to the well-being of the community and the realization that when many hands, hearts, heads, and prayers come together, something beautiful can happen.”
The flagship radio program of DSWD-7 has been over DYHP RMN Cebu at 612 KHz for five (5) years now. It aims to give correct information to the public and counter misinformation and disinformation about the different programs and services of the Department.
For 2024, the radio program runs on a Sunday from 10:00 a.m. to 11:00 a.m., which tackles DSWD programs and services updates, shares testimonials from program beneficiaries, and responds to listeners queries through the DYHP text hotline and on the live stream of the DYHP RMN Cebu Facebook page.
“The award inspires and motivates us to continue bringing the programs and services closer to Filipinos, especially the poor, marginalized, and vulnerable sectors. Our media partners like DYHP RMN Cebu provide us a platform to educate the public about social welfare and development programs and services like how they can avail of such programs, clarify if there are emerging issues, and also present the success stories of our partner beneficiaries through their heartwarming testimonials,” said DSWD-7 Regional Director Shalaine Marie Lucero. ###
