The Department of Social Welfare and Development Field Office 7—Central Visayas, represented by the Bohol Warehouse Manager, Leo G. Hontanosas, supervised the distribution of 761 food packs to Garcia Hernandez, Bohol, which was affected by the Southwest Monsoon (Habagat) on Wednesday, November 13, 2024.

The MSWDO staff also assisted the distribution of food packs containing rice, canned goods, and sachets of coffee and cereal.

The cost of the food items distributed in Garcia Hernandez, Bohol, amounts to PHP 678,812.

Mayor Jess Baja, ABC President Hinorio Jaminal, Municipal Agriculture Officer Primo Galendez, and acting MSWDO Arbit Noroño attended the distribution in Brgy. Poblacion Covered Court, Garcia Hernandez, Bohol.

Most beneficiaries reside in the coastal areas of Garcia Hernandez, where they received six (6) kg of rice, four(4) cans of tuna, four(4) cans of corned beef, two (2) cans of fish, five (5) sachets of cereal, and five (5) sachets of coffee.

To recall, in September 2024, parts of Region 7 experienced heavy rains, intensified by Tropical Storm Ferdie and Tropical Depression Gener.

Shalaine Marie Lucero, Regional Director for the Central Visayas office of DSWD, said the food pack augmentation to LGUs is part of the department’s ongoing efforts to support communities affected by disasters. ###
