The Department of Social Welfare and Development (DSWD) Field Office VII joined the LANDBANKasama and Digital Inclusion Program caravan held in the island municipality of President Carlos P. Garcia (PCPG), Bohol, on January 18, 2024.

DSWD-7 Regional Director Shalaine Marie Lucero looks forward to 4Ps beneficiaries having greater financial access here in CPG in her message of support during the LANDBANKasama and Digital Inclusion Program caravan in the town of President Carlos P. Garcia (PCPG), Bohol.

Some 200 Pantawid Pamilyang Pilipino Program (4Ps) partner beneficiaries in PCPG attended the activity. PCPG Mayor Fernando Estavilla III and Landbank of the Philippines Executive Vice President Liduvino Geron also participated in the caravan.

Regional Director Shalaine Marie Lucero said in her message that the Department recognized the importance of expanding financial services and enhancing financial inclusion, particularly in remote and underserved areas throughout the country, like the town of PCPG.

“In 4Ps, one of the major program outputs is that conditional cash grants received by our beneficiaries under education and health grants and rice subsidies reach on time and in the correct amounts, and that is where our partner Landbank of the Philippines is instrumental in ensuring they receive them every payment period,” said Director Lucero.

Under the LANDBANKasama and Digital Inclusion Program, the Bank teams up with client cooperatives, associations, rural banks, local government units (LGUs), micro, small, and medium enterprises (MSMEs), as well as private entities, to provide essential banking services in areas with limited or no access to traditional banks.

The program aims to empower customers like the 4Ps beneficiaries by reducing transaction costs and enabling savings on travel expenses for those residing outside major urban centers through the LANDBANKasama partners that offer a wide range of services, including cash withdrawal, cash deposit, fund transfer, bill payment, balance inquiry, and the opening of LANDBANK prepaid cards.

Director Lucero also encouraged 4P beneficiaries to recall and apply what they have learned during the monthly Family Development Session (FDS), especially in the session on financial literacy that provided topics on financial planning, saving, budgeting, microcredit, and microinsurance that will empower them on how to use their cash grant and their income. ###
