Corrupt, liar, unfair. These are just some of the hurtful words endured by the DSWD staff during these pandemic times. However, there are those who see the value and hard works that the DSWD personnel do. And some of them shows their appreciations in an artful way.
One of them is Libeth Paracuelles, a young artist from Moalboal, Cebu who made some paper quilling dolls of DSWD staff in action.
Paper quilling is an art that uses the strips of paper that are rolled, shaped and glued together to create decorative designs.
“I decided to create a DSWD paper quilling dolls of DSWD staff as a tribute to them because as a sister of one of the DSWD-7 staff, I have witnessed how tirelessly they work despite the persecutions they have encountered,” shared Paracuelles.
She recalled that at numerous times, her sister would come home at dawn tired but still have to report for duty the same day.
“DSWD, padayon mo sa pagserbisyo (DSWD, continue serving)”, encouraged Paracuelles.
She believes that DSWD is doing its best for the welfare of the people and it only have noble intentions.
Since Paracuelles loves handicrafts, she watched a paper quilling tutorial on Youtube and makes use of the time at home during community quarantine by making paper quilling dolls. In two days, she finished the paper quilling dolls of DSWD staff.
“DSWD is a department who is tasked to serve the people. They have a lot of programs for the poor. It has programs that protect women and children from abuse. With or without pandemic they are front liners.” ###
