About 2,000 strong workforce of the Department of Social Welfare and Development (DSWD) in the Central Visayas region received tribute for their dedication, commitment, passion, and service through the Angels in Red Vests (ARV) campaign.

Launched during the 73rd Anniversary Celebration of DSWD, the campaign bears the theme Angels in Red Vests: Naglilingkod ng may Extra Care at Extra Love, a theme that aims to recognize its workforce as the ‘Angels in Red Vests’, for its hard work and dedication to serve the poor, marginalized, disadvantaged sectors of society.

As the Department implements programs and services and innovates new ones to address poverty, Secretary Rex Gatchalian sees the campaign as a platform that boosts the workers’ morale.

Gatchalian considered the DSWD employees to be the spirit and power of the Department. In his video message, Secretary Gatchalian said, “Without you, our Angels in Red Vests, we will not be able to realize our commitment to the country. That is why we want you to feel proud once you wear that red vest and go out in the field to deliver the programs and services of the Department to the Filipino people.”

The event also launched the official merchandise items and the ARV theme song with dance steps nationwide on January 22, 2024.

In the DSWD Field Office 7-Central Visayas, a fashion show featured merchandise items like t-shirts, tumblers, umbrellas, notebooks, ball pens, tote bags, and enamel pins that inspired the workforce to carry on their commitment to delivering social welfare and development programs and services. Moreover, a flash mob heightened their spirits to bring hope and inspiration to many with their extra love and care for every Filipino.

Social media accounts on Facebook and TikTok, @angelsinredvestsph, and its official hashtag, #AngelsInRedVests, were also launched, which will serve as an avenue for all DSWD employees to share their significant and memorable experiences working in the Department. ###
