Nindot kining naay ingon ani daghan tag makat-unan. Daghang mga pangutana nga natubag sa pag-attend namo sa caravan (It’s great that we have a lot to learn. Many questions were answered when we attended the caravan),” shared Milagros B. Cabras, SLP program participant from Pooc, City of Talisay.

The Social Marketing Unit (SMU) 7 initiated the information caravan to disseminate correct information to the general public. The third quarter of 2023 focused on areas under Executive Order 70 and Payapa at Masaganang Pamayanan (PAMANA) in the provinces of Bohol, Cebu, and Negros Oriental, which have far-flung barangays, conflict-affected vulnerable areas, and limited access to information.

The participants in Barangay Montehermoso, Carmen, Bohol browse the contents of IEC materials provided to them.

Resource persons shared during the caravan relevant information on the Lifeline Rate Program, Recovery and Reintegration Program for Trafficked Persons (RRPTP), Assistance to Individuals in Crisis Situations (AICS), Disaster Response Management, Pantawid Pamilyang Pilipino Program (4Ps), KALAHI-CIDSS, and Sustainable Livelihood Program (SLP).

Aside from the information officers and staff from the DSWD-7, the Local Social Welfare and Development Office and Municipal Agriculture’s Office shared their services and updates that the participants might have the chance to avail of.

During the open forum, the resource persons responded to the participants’ questions and clarified things. The participants expressed their delight in the activity since it enlightened them on issues and answered all their questions.

The information caravan happened in Ayungon and Sta. Catalina, Negros Oriental on September 14 and 15; in Montehermoso, Carmen, Bohol on September 28; and City of Talisay, Cebu on October 24.

The agency focused on strengthening the information destination campaigns to fill communication gaps, especially with the vulnerable sectors, so they will not become victims of disinformation and illegal recruitment, among others. ###
