The Department of Social Welfare and Development (DSWD) celebrated its 71st Founding Anniversary with the theme “DSWD @71: Napapanahon na Pagtugon sa Suliranin ng Taong 2022, Kabalikat sa Katatagan ng Bawat Pilipino” at the Radisson Blu Hotel, Cebu City on March 28.

DSWD Secretary Rolando Joselito D. Bautista delivers his Keynote message during the Panata Ko sa Bayan and PRAISE awards in FO7’s celebration of the DSWD’s 71st anniversary.

The activity highlighted the recognition of the agency’s National Government Agencies, Local Government Units, Non-Government Organizations, Private Individuals, Media, and its internal staff, who unselfishly provided their contributions for the Department to attain its vision and mission. 

DSWD Secretary Rolando Joselito Bautista together with DSWD-7 Regional Director Rebecca Geamala led the distribution of plaques to the awardees.

“This event is a celebration of the important work not only of our field office staff but also of our partners and stakeholders in the field of social welfare and development,” said Sec. Bautista.

Through the Pagkilala sa Natatanging (PaNata) Kontribusyon Ko sa Bayan Award, DSWD-7 acknowledged the efforts of its partners whose vow is to share their resources, time, and selves in providing for a better opportunity for the disadvantaged sectors to have equal access to opportunities enabled by a fair, just and peaceful society. 

The acknowledgment includes citing partners for their contributions and supports through the Citation Award, commending the development partners and volunteers through the Salamat Po Award, lauding the local government units for implementing the department’s programs and services through the Gawad Paglilingkod sa Sambayanan (GAPAS) Award, and applauding media organizations and practitioners who have given support in information dissemination through the Gawad Ulat Award.

With the calamity that has struck Central Visayas, DSWD-7 has recognized the exemplified humanitarian assistance during relief services, emergency assistance, and disaster operation of the partners through the Gawad Serbisyo Award.

Evelyn Macapobre of Region 6, Rebecca Geamala of Region 7, and Grace Subong of Region 8 as well as, DSWD-7 Assistant Regional Directors Shalaine Marie Lucero for the Operations and Antonio Dolaota for the Administration during the DSWD-7 71st Founding Anniversary held at Radisson Blu Hotel in Cebu City last March 28, 2022.

DSWD-7 also honored DSWD staff in individuals and in groups category who have made remarkable accomplishments, extraordinary acts, superior accomplishments, heroic deeds, and innovative ideas that have contributed to the improvement of government operations through the Program on Awards and Incentives for Service Excellence or PRAISE Awards. 

The Secretary has also recognized DSWD-7 for being the first national winner of the Sprint Champ: Early Wins Initiatives of the department. 

Moreover, Geamala presented the accomplishments of the department in the region through an audio-video presentation of her State of the Region Address (SORA).

Also celebrating the occasion were assistant secretaries Rodolfo Encabo and Ramil Ayuman as well as regional directors Ma. Evelyn Macapobre of Region 6, and Grace Subong of Region 8. ###
