In order to check the on-the-ground situation and listen to concerns, Department of Social Welfare and Development Secretary Rolando Joselito “Rolly” Bautista arrived in the Province of Bohol for a dialogue with the local chief executives in the “Barug Bohol Consultative Meeting” hosted by Governor Arthur Yap on January 19, 2022.
In the meeting, Secretary Bautista thoroughly clarified the process, requirements, and basis of relief augmentation in terms of financial assistance through the Assistance to Individuals in Crisis Situations (AICS) and Food and Non-Food Items (FNFI) specifically for families affected by Typhoon Odette.
He assured the governor and mayors who are present that aside from the support being provided and strategized, the regular services of the Department such as the Cash and Food For Work, AICS for medical, burial, transportation, education, and the Sustainable Livelihood Program, among others, will continue to receive clients who wish to avail.
Secretary Bautista also listened to concerns of the local officials addressed to other national agencies guaranteeing that each point will reach the concerned office through meetings of the cabinet secretaries and of the president.
Present in the meeting are DSWD Assistant Secretaries Glenda Relova and Rudy Encabo, DSWD Field Office 7 Regional Director Rebecca P. Geamala, DILG Undersecretary Martin Diño, and Office of the Civil Defense Region 7 Director Marlou Salazar, who is also the chair of the Regional Disaster Risk Reduction Management Council responsible in overseeing response operations.
Bohol is among the heavily devastated province in the country with 367,420 affected families coming from 48 local government units.
As of DROMIC Report #42 for Typhoon Odette, the Department has released a total of Php 70,937,270.00 which consists of 129,014 Family Food Packs worth Php 68,377,420.00 and Php 2,559,850.00 worth of Non-Food Items.
DSWD Field Office 7 will continue to provide the needed augmentation support to the local government unit in the Province of Bohol and is one in its pursuit to recovery. ###
