The Department of Social Welfare and Development Field OfficeVII has conducted a culminating activity for the 70th Founding Anniversary of the agency at the Multipurpose Hall, Area Vocational Rehabilitation Center II in Barangay Labangon, Cebu City on March 5.

Due to the pandemic, the celebration was mostly done online, and only a few participants and awardees were present for the face-to-face event in adherence to the safety protocols of the Inter-Agency Task Force on Emerging Infectious Diseases (IATF).

The rest of the participants, awardees and, DSWD staff logged-in online to witness and take part in the celebration and the awarding ceremony. 

DSWD Secretary Rolando Joselito Bautista joined the celebration with former directors of Field Office VII — Regional Director Ma. Evelyn Macapobre of Field Office VI and Assistant Regional Director for Operations Grace Subong of Field Office VIII.

Secretary Bautista, in his speech, thanked all hardworking personnel as well as various stakeholders for the many contributions they have provided to service and uplift the lives of the marginalized segments of society for the past 70 years.

The Secretary applauded the genuine and non-stop service to the people in Central Visayas, in spite of the risk of COVID-19.

In the event, the DSWD-7 acknowledged its partners through Pagkilala sa Natatanging Kontribusyon sa Bayan or the PaNata ko sa Bayan Award for their efforts and vow to share their resources, time, and selves in providing for a better opportunity for the disadvantaged sectors to have equal access to opportunities.

Through the Program on Awards and Incentives for Service Excellence or PRAISE Awards, DSWD-7 recognized its staff who have rendered innovative ideas, exemplary services that contribute to the efficiency, economy, and improvement of government operations. Part of the PRAISE Awards was the recognition of loyalty awardees who have reached 10, 15, 25, 30, and 35 years of service.

Additionally, the DSWD-7 unveiled its insignia representing the region and conveying the kind of service it offers to its stakeholders with its motto: “Gabay at Serbisyo tungo sa isang maunlad na Pamayanan.” ###
