The partner-beneficiaries of the government’s Pantawid Pamilyang Pilipino Program (4Ps) were oriented on the coronavirus disease 2019 (COVID-19) during its monthly Family Development Session (FDS).

Pantawid Pamilya partner-beneficiaries in Brgy. Bal-os, Basay, Negros Oriental attend their Family Development Session (FDS) for the month of March. They listen to Ms. Jaqueline Anne Valencia, Municipal Health Officer of Basay, who discusses for this month’s topic, the Coronavirus disease 2019 (COVID-19) and its preventive measures.

The Department of Health (DOH) deployed nurses in different cities and municipalities actively discussed COVID-19 and its preventive measures.

“This is an important and timely topic that our partner-beneficiaries should know in order to protect themselves, their families and the rest of the community and FDS serves as a good venue to disseminate the information about this disease,” said DSWD-7 Regional Director Rebecca Geamala.

FDS is one of the conditionalities of Pantawid Pamilyang Pilipino Program that gathers partner-beneficiaries once a month to discuss various development topics.

It aims to enhance and acquire new skills and knowledge of Pantawid partner-beneficiaries in responding to their parental roles and responsibilities particularly on the health and nutrition, education, protection and psychosocial needs of children among others.

Meanwhile, Regional Director Geamala reminded the DSWD-7 staff to practice proper hygiene to help contain COVID-19 such as washing hands often with soap and water for at least twenty seconds or use an alcohol-based hand sanitizer if soap and water are not available. ###
