As the Department of Social Welfare and Development (DSWD) celebrates its 68th founding anniversary, the DSWD-7 Chorale had valentine serenade to the clients of the department’s Crisis Intervention Section (CIS) on February 13, 2019.

Just in time for the love month celebration, the DSWD-7 Chorale has rendered love songs to the CIS clients waiting for their turn to complete the process of their request for Assistance to Individuals in Crisis Situations (AICS).

The DSWD-7 chorale amuses CIS clients with their rendition of the love songs entitled How Deep is Your Love?, Panalangin, You, Killing Me Softly, and You are the Reason.

Under the AICS, the DSWD provides medical, educational, burial, transportation as well as non-food assistance to persons or families in crisis situations, particularly those who belong to the sector and other poor, marginalized, vulnerable, and disadvantaged individuals.

Maria Nancy Bondoc, 62, of Brgy. Tinago, Cebu City who has sung along with the DSWD-7 chorale expressed her amusement of such effort of the staff. “Nawala jud akong stress nga naminaw sa ilaha ganina nga nanganta (My stress has disappeared while listening to the songs they sing),” said Maria Nancy who was processing a medical assistance for her daughter.

Mr. Proceso A. Bomediano, Pantawid Provincial Grievance Officer and one of the members of the Chorale has also voiced how fulfilling it was for them to have gone an extra mile for the CIS clients through such serenade. “It really feels good to at least put a smile on their face and for that span of time that they have stayed there processing their documents, we have shared something more than the cash grants they would receive,” Mr. Bomediano recounted.

This serenade to CIS clients is just one of the lined-up activities of the field office for its week-long celebration of the DSWD 68th Founding Anniversary with the theme: “Katuwang sa Pagbabago”. Among the activities for the week-long anniversary celebration are the meeting with the Secretary, Ribbon Cutting of SLP and AVRC II exhibit, Blessing and Dedication of the Center for Women and Children, Awarding of Outstanding Employees, NGOs, media and partner stakeholders/institutions, Employees Welfare Program Symposium, Blood Letting Program, Holy Mass and the AnniverSaya Afternoon featuring assorted amusement booths. ###
