To raise awareness and promote the various programs of the Department of Social Welfare and Development (DSWD), the Social Marketing Unit conducted a series of Information Caravans under the “Tamang Tulong sa Tamang Impormasyon” campaign in Bohol province—held in Ubay on June 4 and Talibon on June 5, 2025.

The events brought together beneficiaries of key DSWD programs such as the Pantawid Pamilyang Pilipino Program, the Sustainable Livelihood Program, and KALAHI-CIDSS volunteers, along with representatives from various sectoral groups including women, youth, persons with disabilities, and senior citizens.

Participants got oriented on the agency’s programs and latest initiatives, including the 4Ps, SLP, Area Vocational Rehabilitation Center II, and iRegistro—a technology-based system for updating the profiles of 4Ps household beneficiaries.

In the information Caravan, resource persons informed the participants about HELPS-MTA (Harmonized Electronics Licensing and Permits System-Minors Traveling Abroad), a digital initiative of the DSWD that streamlines and digitizes the travel clearance process for minors.

Regional Information Officer Leah T. Quintana emphasized the importance of bringing vital information and advocacy efforts closer to grassroots communities—particularly the Department’s campaign against Online Sexual Abuse and Exploitation of Children (OSAEC) and Labor Trafficking.

“There has been a rise in fake news and clickbait content that has negatively affected many of our clients and beneficiaries. As the lead agency mandated to protect the vulnerable, this has a significant impact on the public—especially when such misinformation creates confusion and exploits their vulnerabilities,” Quintana explained.

To ensure that beneficiaries and clients receive accurate and reliable information, the DSWD has launched a communication initiative through its “Tamang Tulong sa Tamang Impormasyon” (3TI) campaign. This campaign aims to combat the spread of misinformation and disinformation.

Its goal is to deliver accurate and timely information to beneficiaries, clients, target audiences, and the general public, utilizing social media, various media platforms, and direct community engagement activities such as information caravans.

Partner government agencies also provided services during the event, including the Philippine Statistics Authority (PSA); the Municipal Agricultural Office (MAO), the Public Employment Service Office (PESO), and the Rural Health Unit (RHU) of Talibon; as well as Nuat Thai Services, Inc.

In a video message, Regional Director Shalaine Marie S. Lucero reminded the participants. “Knowledge is your most powerful tool. Remember, every piece of accurate information you receive is a step toward empowerment, resilience, and progress. The 3TI campaign reminds us that effective assistance begins with the right knowledge,” she said.

The next 3TI campaign will be in Lapu-Lapu City, Cebu on August 29, 2025. ###
