The Department of Social Welfare and Development (DSWD) Field Office 7 radio program Ikaw ug ang DSWD Kauban sa Kabag-ohan goes on air again over DYHP RMN Cebu 612 KHz to continue giving correct information to the public and counters misinformation and disinformation.
The radio program runs every Sunday from 10:00 to 11:00 in the morning, tackles the DSWD program and service updates, shares testimonials from program beneficiaries, and responds to listeners’ queries to assist the poor.
In the first episode on May 5, 2024, DSWD-7 Regional Director Shalaine Marie Lucero encouraged radio listeners to tune in to DYHP every Sunday morning.
“The radio program serves as one of the platforms of DSWD in its efforts to bring its programs and services closer to poor Filipinos and provide clarifications if there are issues that will emerge,” said Director Lucero.
It also discussed the Gender Equality at Home, the Family Development Session (FDS) topic of May. The FDS is one of the conditions of the Pantawid Pamilyang Pilipino Program (4Ps) that gathers partner beneficiaries monthly to discuss various developmental subject matters.
On May 12, 2024, the second episode of the program tackled RA 11916, the Increased Social Pension Stipend, Centenarian, and RA 11982, or the Benefits for Filipino Octagenarians and Nonagenarians.
Daisy C. Lor, Focal Person for Social Pension, talked about the Social Pension Program, of which 299,737 indigent senior citizens have benefited in the region with the increased stipend from Php 500.00 to Php 1,000.00 monthly. Juvelyn C. Gumisad, Focal Persons for Centenarians, shared the figures of Centenarians in the Central Visayas, who received the cash incentives in 2023, and those who will receive them this year. She also mentioned that senior citizens aged 80–95 will receive cash gifts through RA 11982.
The DSWD 7 resource persons also encouraged the public to ask questions through the DYHP text hotline and during the live streaming on the DYHP RMN Cebu Facebook page.
The succeeding episodes will feature Devolution, Sustainable Livelihood Program (SLP), Project Lawa at Binhi, KALAHI-CIDSS, TARA Basa! Tutoring program, Supplementary Feeding Program (SFP), Listahanan, Enhanced Partnership Against Hunger and Poverty (EPAHP), Walang Gutom 2027: Food Stamp Program, Assistance to Individuals in Crisis Situations (AICS), Centers and Residential Care Facilities (CRCFs), updates on 4Ps, the 18-day campaign to end VAW, Online Sexual Abuse and Exploitation of Children (OSAEC), among others.
Meanwhile, the television version of the “Ikaw ug ang DSWD Kauban sa Kabag-ohan,” a monthly program, will start airing its eighth season this May 17, 2024, from 9:00 to 10:00 in the evening at CCTN Channel 47. The TV program presents the different DSWD programs and services. The information officers will handle the program together with assigned resource speakers. The TV program also features different program beneficiaries in video testimonials. ###
