The Department of Social Welfare and Development (DSWD) Field Office VII has finally recovered its official Facebook page, DSWD Region VII.
To regain its page ownership, DSWD-7 coordinated immediately with Meta Philippines and completed all the documents it required to restore the page.
After more than a month of communicating with Meta Philippines, the DSWD-7 also sought assistance from the Regional Anti-Cybercrime Unit (RACU)-7 through Police Colonel Fidel Fortaleza Jr. and OIC Digital Forensic PLT Mark Anthony Fredeluces for the recovery of its page.
“We are thankful for the prompt assistance provided by RACU-7, and we can now share official updates from our office,” said DSWD-7 Regional Director Shalaine Marie Lucero.
“In the age of social media, government agencies are turning to this media platform to engage the netizens. Through this platform, government agencies like DSWD can easily disseminate information and share updates in a timely manner,” underscored Director Lucero on the importance of information dissemination using social media.
Through the DSWD Region VII Facebook page, the field office was able to provide correct information, answer all queries, share success stories from different programs and services of the Department, and call for volunteers for repacking during relief operations.
The official Facebook page was created on November 27, 2013, after the onslaught of Supertyphoon Yolanda that battered the whole Visayas region in 2013.
The experience during Super Typhoon Yolanda was a game changer in disseminating information to the general public, as Filipinos rely on news updates on social media.
Currently, the page has over 500,000 followers.
The government social welfare agency in Central Visayas also maintains active social media accounts like Instagram, YouTube, and X (formerly Twitter) to further engage more netizens. ###
