The Department of Social Welfare and Development Field Office VII (DSWD-7) provides various social interventions to 95,682 Pantawid Pamilyang Pilipino Program (4Ps) partner-beneficiaries through its different partner national government agencies (NGAs).

DSWD-7 conducts its third quarter meeting for the Pantawid Pamilyang Pilipino Program (4Ps) Expanded Regional Advisory Committee (ERAC).

“The main goal of the 4Ps is to send healthy children to school. However, our partner-beneficiaries can only avail of the program if their children are aged 0–18 years old or until they finish high school, whichever comes first, and so to ensure that the quality of well-being is improved, the Department coordinates with other national government agencies for other social interventions,” said Regional Director Shalaine Marie Lucero.

During the third quarter’s 4Ps Expanded Regional Advisory Committee (ERAC) in October 2022, partner NGAs presented their agency’s accomplishments in the implementation of 4Ps programs and services to partner beneficiaries.

The Department of Public Works and Highways (DPWH) provided gainful employment to 138 4Ps beneficiaries through the Trabahong Lansangan project that tasked them with roadside maintenance, vegetation control, cleaning of canals, culverts, and pothole patching.

The Philippine Health Insurance Corporation (PhilHealth) provided the 1,654 4Ps beneficiaries with updated member data records (MDRs), which they used in claiming medical assistance.

The Department of Science and Technology (DOST) provided technical support to 200 4Ps beneficiaries for their community-based enterprise in Toledo City, funded cooperatives for 250 beneficiaries in Cebu province, and provided scholarships to 150 4Ps student-beneficiaries. The Department of Agriculture (DA) conducted livestock production training for 39 4Ps beneficiaries in Cebu province and 6 beneficiaries in Siquijor province.

The Department of Environment and Natural Resources (DENR) engaged 732 4Ps beneficiaries in the region in its seedling production and maintenance and protection of established plantations under the government’s flagship reforestation program.

The Philippine Statistics Authority (PSA) served 92,057 4Ps beneficiaries for their Philippine Identification System (PhilSys ID) while the Philippine Drug Enforcement Agency (PDEA) conducted drug information activities which included lectures, symposia, and feeding programs to 456 beneficiaries in the region.

“We, in DSWD, recognize the contribution of our partner national government agencies (NGAs) as well as the local government units (LGUs) and civil society organizations (CSOs) in alleviating the lives of 4Ps families from poverty. We need the collective efforts and convergence from everyone so that by the time the families exit from the program, they are already self-sufficient,” added Director Lucero.

The 4Ps is the government’s major poverty alleviation program that invests in the health, nutrition, and education of poor eligible households. These, along with the psychosocial and educational components provided through the Family Development Session (FDS), lead the beneficiaries to have improved and sustained well-being. ###
